Piriform body. The two-piece back and ribs are of maple, as is the neck. The table is of spruce. The faux purfling on the table and back is drawn in ink. The sound hole is covered with a rose consisting of a twelve-pointed star made up of thin strips of ivory and ebony alternating with flambeaus of hardwood. The sickle head of the neck terminates in a square of dark stained wood inlaid with an eight-pointed star of ivory and hardwood. Ten strings: the lowest two are single; the remaining eight constitute four double courses. The tuning mechanism consists of enclosed threaded rods turned by a separate watchkey. Twelve brass frets.
